Founder

Corpus Christi Church, 664 Red River Road, was built in 1951 along with St. Margaret's Church on Clayte St. to help solve a growing congestion problem at the beautiful and traditional St. Andrew's Church on Red River and Algoma.    Its founding pastor was Rev. Regis St. James, the Dean for the Catholic community of Thunder Bay, at a time when this city was structured under the Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie.    This affiliation lasted until 1970, when the Diocese of Thunder Bay was established under Most Rev. Edward Q. Jennings serving as its first bishop.    A host of Pastors, Associates and lay ministers have served the needs of the faithful over the years.

Corpus Christi Church continues its long tradition of service to a large population in the North end of Thunder Bay, counting 1,150 families as part of its membership.    This year, 2011, marks the 60th anniversary of the church.   We are proud to offer outreach to the poor through St. Vincent de Paul, ministry to youth (including comprehensive sacramental preparation) and a vibrant music ministry which helps lead to worshipper into a deeper sense of the presence of God.
